Domain Notes & Incident Timeline
Add timestamped notes to any domain to record what happened, when, and why — keeping the full operator context for that domain in one place.
What domain notes are for
Domain notes let your MSP team log anything that should be remembered about a specific domain — directly alongside it. Common uses:
- Onboarding records — what was done during transfer or initial DNS setup, what was changed and why.
- Incident notes — record what happened during an incident, the resolution, and any follow-up tasks.
- DNS change rationale — why a record was added, modified, or removed — useful when a change is questioned later.
- Client context — quirks about a client's setup, upcoming changes, or anything the next person who opens the domain should know.
Adding a note
Open the domain detail page and scroll to the Notes section. Type your note in the text field and click Save. The note is saved with a timestamp and your name.
Notes appear in reverse chronological order — newest first — so the most recent context is always at the top.
Who can see notes
All MSP team members with access to the client that owns the domain can view and add notes. Notes are not visible to client portal users.
Editing and deleting notes
Notes can be edited or deleted by the team member who created them, or by an Owner or Admin. The original timestamp is preserved when a note is edited.
